Tucson Man Stabbed, Killed On West Side, Sister In Hospital

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating the death of 33-year-old Gary Lavier that occurred early Friday morning on Tucson’s west side.

On April 6, 2018, just before 1:00 a.m., Tucson Police officers responded to the intersection of East 8th Street and North Park Avenue for a report of an injured person in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located Mr. Lavier on the ground that was bleeding heavily from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. Officers immediately began rendering aid to Mr. Lavier until Tucson Fire took over medical treatment. There was an adult female at the scene that was also bleeding from an apparent head injury. She is the sister of Mr. Lavier.

Tucson Fire transported both victims to Banner University Medical Center for further treatment. Shortly after arrival, Mr. Lavier passed away from his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The female victim had significant injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.

Tucson Police detectives determined that the incident did not occur at the intersection. Mr. Lavier and his sister were with an unknown male in a nearby alley. While in the alley, an altercation occurred between the three individuals. During the altercation, Mr. Lavier was stabbed and his sister was assaulted. They both ran from the scene and ended up a short distance away at E. 8th St. and N. Park Ave. The suspect fled before police arrived on scene.

Detectives are currently following up on leads in the case, but they are asking anyone with information to please call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
