Far Eastside Drive By Homicide Arrest Made

An arrest has been made in the April 6, 2018 murder of 51-year-old Jesus Castro.

When Tucson Police officers first responded to the drive-by shooting call on April 6, 2018, the Tucson Police Department received an additional call about a vehicle fire in the same neighborhood. Officers discovered a gold Toyota Sequoia engulfed in flames in an alley near East Kenyon Drive and South Sherwood Village Drive. That location is only a few residential streets from the shooting scene. The vehicle on fire matched the description of the vehicle involved in the drive-by shooting. Detectives processed the vehicle and collected evidence from both scenes.

On April 9, 2018, Tucson Police Gang Detectives learned that an individual by the name of Anthony Fimbres purchased the Toyota Sequoia just prior to the drive-by shooting. Detectives located Fimbres the same day and spoke with him about the homicide.

A search warrant was conducted at Fimbres’ residence where detectives collected additional evidence. After the interview and search warrant, 47-year-old Anthony Fimbres was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Assault w/a Deadly Weapon, one count of Discharging a Firearm at a Residential Structure and one count of Prohibited Possessor.

Additional suspects are believed to be involved in the shooting. Detectives are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone with information to please call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
