
The Tucson Police Department Gang Unit detectives were able to identify one of the male suspects in the death of 34-year-old David Jimenez. Early Thursday morning, the Tucson Police Department Field Response Unit (comprised of SWAT personnel) located and apprehended the suspect without incident. He has been identified as 33-year-old Cassius Brandon Mason.
Mason was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail for 1st Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping and Prohibited Possessor.
Detectives were able to identify the additional male suspect as 29-year-old Jose Angel Alvarez. Alvarez had been booked into the Pima County Jail yesterday for unrelated charges. He was also charged with 1st Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping and Prohibited Possessor related to the death of Mr. Jimenez.
On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, just before noon, officers responded to a report of a shooting in a hotel room at 6555 E. Speedway Blvd. Upon arrival, officers located Jimenez with obvious gunshot trauma. He was transported to Banner University Medical Center but later succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Jimenez had been inside the hotel room with friends and met with other males regarding a drug transaction. At some point, an altercation occurred and gunfire was exchanged. The males fled the room.
