Attempted Child Abduction Suspect Arrested

The Tucson Police Department has been actively working the attempted abduction of a 9-year-old female that began yesterday morning and have arrested Alonso Rodriquez.

Sunday morning April 29, 2018, just before 6:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted child abduction from an apartment at 2455 N. Dodge Blvd. (near E. Grant Rd. and N. Dodge Blvd.). Upon arrival, they learned a nine-year-old child had been sleeping in her bed when an unknown male opened her bedroom window. The male tried to coerce the girl out of the room to go with him. A family member heard the commotion and came into the room and began screaming, alerting other family members.

Personnel from communications, the Tucson Real-Time Analytical Crime Center (TRACC), the crime lab and Operations Division Midtown officers and Community Response Team assisted the detectives from the Special Investigations Section. Through forensic evidence, detectives were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Alonso Rodriquez.

This morning, around 2:20 a.m., a Midtown patrol officer located Rodriquez in a parking lot near E. Presidio Rd. and N. Alvernon Way. He was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail for Attempted Kidnapping and 2nd Degree Burglary.
