It has become a ritual of sorts – watching Meghan McCain’s twitter feed for some sign of life, or death from the McCain Cornville compound. Meghan’s latest ‘I’m going home’ tweet sparked increased curiosity as it came on the last day to run as a write-in candidate for a special election to replace her dad.
Every ‘I’m going home’ tweet by Sen. John McCain’s daughter Meghan is tracked and analyzed in an effort to glean some – any – information about the terminally ill Senator.
Today at 5:00 was the deadline to run as a write-in, which means there is no conceivable possibility of holding a special election this year if a U.S. Senate vacancy were to occur. So please, just please, let’s not engage in any further macabre speculation on this issue.

The Senator is battling an aggressive form of brain cancer. He has not been seen publicly since he returned to his family’s compound in Cornville, Arizona before the Senate’s last Christmas break.
