Arrest Made In Burglary Case of Fountain Hills Double Homicide

On July 24, 2018 the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested Keith Dees, age 41, of Avondale, in the case where two vehicles were stolen in a Fountain Hills burglary that occurred at 14906 E Kit Fox Place on June 6. The home was the location of a recent double homicide that is being investigated by the Scottsdale Police Department as part of a larger crime spree.

Since June 6, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) detectives and local law enforcement have been working in collaboration in an effort to locate the stolen vehicles. With the help of Phoenix PD’s Street Crimes Unit, both vehicles were recovered. One unoccupied vehicle was recovered on June 8, 2018 and the second, which was occupied by Dees was recovered on June 20, 2018.

Dees was arrested, interviewed and booked into the 4th Avenue Jail for ARS violation-Theft of Means of Transportation.

Forensic evidence was collected from Dees and on July 19, 2018, MCSO detectives were notified by Scottsdale PD that forensic evidence on an item collected from the crime scene matched the forensic evidence obtained from Dees by MCSO detectives. This DNA match provided physical evidence that Dees is linked to the home where the burglary occurred. Additionally, the forensic evidence connects Dees to the burglary in Fountain Hills, but it also connected him to another previous burglary that occurred in 2014 in the City of Phoenix.

Dees was taken into custody after he completed a court hearing, and was booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office 4th Avenue Jail by MCSO detectives on 1 count of Burglary 2nd Degree.
