On Sunday, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Chandler Police officers were dispatched to assist Chandler Fire personnel with a death investigation at an apartment located at 375 N. Federal St.
Upon arrival officers discovered 81 year-old Helen Smith deceased inside the residence with a stab wound. Officers learned Helen’s grandson, 30 year-old Brandon Smith, was responsible for slitting her throat.
Smith was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of 1st Degree Murder.
