The body of Nathan Marcus Hughes, 28, of Mississippi, was found by Yuma County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Tuesday. On July 30, 2018 at approximately 2:23 a.m., the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Mr. Hughes was missing.
On Monday, July 30, 2018 at approximately 2:23 a.m., deputies spoke to the reporting party who stated Mr. Hughes had last called her on Friday, July 20, 2018. Mr. Hughes provided the reporting party his GPS location and mentioned he was going camping and hiking in the Kofa Refuge area. He told the reporting party that if he did not make contact with her by Sunday night to notify law enforcement.
The YCSO with the assistance of United States Border Patrol BORTSAR conducted a ground search of the area while MCAS Yuma Search and Rescue assisted with aerial support. Mr. Hughes vehicle was located approximately six miles east of Highway 95 from mile marker 77. At approximately 9:55 a.m., the body of Mr. Hughes was found approximately one mile from his vehicle.
