Angel Xavier Catha was sentenced to 97 months in prison followed by 20 years of supervised release after pleading to receipt of one image of child pornography.
Catha, age 21, will be required to register as a sex offender.
Catha admitted to pursuing a sexual relationship with the 13-year-old victim while living on the Gila River Indian Community. Both the victim and Catha are enrolled members of the Gila River Indian Community. Over that period, Catha repeatedly requested that the victim provide him with child pornography. Catha ultimately received one image of child pornography, which was sent via Facebook.
The judge increased Catha’s sentence to account for his subsequent sexual abuse of the victim.
