Tucson Pedestrian Dies From Injuries Sutained In July Collision

On August 9, 2018, a Tucson pedestrian, 44-year-old Meghan A. Berritto, succumbed to injuries she sustained on July 28, just after 9:00 p.m., near the intersection of W. Irvington Road and S. Liberty Avenue.

Tucson Police Traffic Detectives, after speaking with witnesses, learned that Ms. Berritto was walking northbound in the middle of S. Liberty Avenue when she began to cross W. Irvington Road. As she continued north and entered the median lane, she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. Ms. Berritto was not in a crosswalk and witnesses told investigators that she was walking very slow before stepping in front of the vehicle.

There were no signs of impairment from the driver involved in the collision. As of this date, no charges or citations have been issued. Anyone with additional information about the collision is asked to call 88-CRIME.
