Tucson Police Investigating South Side Murder

The Tucson Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting of 30-year-old Derrick J. Lee that occurred early Wednesday morning on Tucson’s South Side.

On August 22, 2018, at approximately 5:45 a.m., Tucson Police officers were dispatched to 301 E. Aviation Drive (Mariposa Park) after a neighbor called 911 to report an unresponsive male lying on the ground. When officers arrived, they located Mr. Lee with obvious signs of gunshot trauma and pronounced him deceased on scene.

Detectives were able to identify Mr. Lee, who has known gang affiliations.

Although gang detectives are investigating this incident, it is unknown if the homicide itself is gang related. Detectives are following up on leads in the case. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
