Cochise County Man Arrested For Pot Growing Operation

A Cochise County man is in custody after the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person in Ash Canyon south of Sierra Vista.

On August 28, deputies found John Sochor, age 44, driving a Black SUV who was later found to be in possession of several marijuana plants, seven firearms to include an AK47, several thousand rounds of ammunition, and several items of drug paraphernalia.

A subsequent search warrant at a residence on East Faith Avenue unveiled 87 marijuana plants ranging from one foot to ten feet in height, nine firearms, two rifle grade bullet proof vests, one handgun grade bullet proof vest, much more ammunition, and more drug paraphernalia.

Sochor admitted to cultivating and selling the marijuana. He was arrested for Cultivation of Marijuana (87 counts), Possession of Marijuana for Sale, Possession of approximately 200 pounds of marijuana, Possession of body armor during felony offense (3 counts), Possession of a Firearm During a Drug Offense (9 counts), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
