Border Crossing Card Holder Nabbed With Nearly $97K In Meth

On Sunday, Border Patrol agents from the Wellton Station assigned to the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint arrested a 24-year-old Mexican man with a Border Crossing Card after finding him in possession of nearly $97,000 in methamphetamine.

Agents referred the driver of a Chevrolet Malibu, at approximately 6:20 p.m., to a secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect, coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search yielded 29 packages of methamphetamine found in the car’s trunk. The drugs had a combined weight of approximately 32 pounds.

Agents arrested the driver and seized the vehicle and contraband.
