$350K In Hard Drugs Seized By Nogales CBP Officers

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of Nogales arrested a Mexican woman connected with a failed attempt to smuggle a combination of heroin and methamphetamine into the United States on Wednesday.

CBP officers at the Mariposa Crossing referred a 23-year-old Nogales, Sonora, Mexican resident for further inspection of her Toyota sedan Wednesday afternoon. A CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to a scent it was trained to detect within the vehicle’s center console. Officers removed several packages of drugs which were identified as more than 11 pounds of heroin, worth more than $298,000 as well as more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine, worth more than $52,000.

Officers seized the drugs as well as the vehicle. The subject was arrested and then turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
