Sierra Vista Man Charged With Attempted Homicide, Stabbed Father

A Sierra Vista man, Samuel Natividad, is facing charges that include attempted 2nd degree homicide after stabbing his father, Javier Natividad.

Natividad is also charged with leaving the scene, and initially being arrested for disorderly conduct before the stabbing had been reported.

Sierra Vista Police Department officers responded to the report of disorderly conduct in the 700 block of South 7th Street at about 2:17 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 25-year-old Natividad, who was covered in blood and being belligerent to bystanders. While officers attempted to assess whether Natividad was injured and find out what had happened, Natividad remained uncooperative and repeatedly punched a nearby gate.

At about 2:21 a.m., after a brief struggle with officers on scene, Natividad was detained. A short time later, officers placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Cochise County Jail.

Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) dispatch received a 911 call at about 2:52 a.m. reporting a stabbing in the 2000 block of Copper Sunrise. Responding officers made contact with a family member of the 51-year-old Natividad. The family member reported that Javier had been stabbed in the upper torso and left the area on foot prior to the officers’ arrival. Before leaving the residence, Javier had an altercation with the family member who reported the stabbing.

Officers located Javier in the area of Avenida Cochise and Town and Country Drive at about 3:06 a.m. Javier was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries. After he was released from the hospital, Javier was booked into the Cochise County Jail for domestic violence/disorderly conduct and domestic violence/assault for his altercation with a family member.

Further investigation showed that Samuel and Javier apparently had an altercation in the area of 7th Street and Busby Drive where Javier was stabbed by Samuel.

SVPD officers made contact with Samuel at the jail and filed additional charges of domestic violence/attempted 2nd degree homicide, and domestic violence/aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Samuel remains in jail on a $25,000 bond.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact SVPD Detective Cpl. Joshua Nicola at (520) 452-7500.
