Reeling from blackface furor, Northam vows to ‘take a harder line’ on Confederate monuments
By Katelyn Caralle

Embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam says that he wants to take down Confederate statues and monuments in the state.

“I will take a harder line,” Northam told the Washington Post amid a scandal stemming from a racist photograph on his medical school yearbook page. “If there are statues, if there monuments out there that provoke this type of hatred and bigotry, they need to be in museums.”

Northam is facing calls to resign after a his page from the 1984 yearbook that includes an image of an individual in blackface and another in a Ku Klux Klan robe and hood surfaced. Northam, who initially apologized for the photo, later claimed he is neither of the individuals in it but appeared in blackface as Michael Jackson for a dance competition that same year.

  1. just like after trump met and made some good communications with the korean, they brought up the mex border instead. Tactic #2 of the left and its PR firms (abc, nbc. cbs, cnn) and this does not include rags like ads, the republic and the rest of the so called print media!

  2. I just love it when the liberals want to eat one of their own for something that happened 30+ years ago, in a different place and time. Talk about racist. So tired of the word, but yet the progressives continue to hurl it with abandon and now it means next to nothing. And yet they themselves are the ones that are the true racists. Pathetic.

  3. I was once black man for Halloween – as an old black man in coveralls – balled head – grey haired side – a ball cap that said ‘white’ on it. I was about 28 it was a party – I got some strange responses about town – some interesting looks from some black people I came across – nothing bad – I did this very well – I looked like a black man.. ever been black before? I think you should try it to see how folk’ look at you. I think I did it so wall my ‘thing’ got longer… just to be stereotypical

  4. Listen up Gov. If you think the statues of people almost no Virginian living today can identify are responsible for racism, what should the reaction to your dressing up in black face or as a Klan member do?

  5. It’s called presentism folk. How can you compare what you did 30 years ago to today? Democrats still live in the past and WILL NOT GIVE UP THEIR VICTIMHOOD STATUS.
