CBP Officers Find Methamphetamine, Heroin Intake Manifold

TUCSON – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered methamphetamine and heroin in a smuggler’s vehicle intake manifold at the Port of Nogales.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), officers referred a 19-year-old Nogales, Sonora, Mexico man for further inspection of his Dodge truck at the DeConcini Crossing. A drug sniffing canine alerted to the engine compartment.

Officers found a dozen packages of drugs from the intake manifold. The drugs were identified as more than 1.5 pounds of meth, worth in excess of $5,000, according to CBP.

Agents also seized nearly 5.5 pounds of heroin, worth almost $150,000.

The smuggler was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
