The Arizona Department of Transportation has closed multiple highways in northern Arizona due to inter weather and crashes. The Department is advising drivers to delay travel across northern Arizona as heavy snow or crashes have made some roads impassable.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the following highways are closed.
I-17 northbound at State Route 179 is closed due to winter weather.
I-40 eastbound is also closed at SR 95. All traffic must head south on SR 95.
SR 89A is closed between Sedona and Flagstaff.
SR 87 is closed from Payson to Winslow because of snow and ice. This is from mileposts 254-337. State Route 87 is closed between Payson (milepost 250) and State Route 188 (milepost 238).
SR 260 is closed in both directions between Star Valley and Heber. SR 260 eastbound is closed at mp 228, east of I-17.
US 60 is closed between Superior and Globe due to a crash.
The storm has not appeared to dampen the Kingman Police Department’s sense of humor however.
Urgent Announcement
Due to extreme weather and too much snow the Kingman Police Department is canceling all crime. In addition we are announcing that all roadways are off limits to “snow challenged” drivers……you know who you are. Don’t do it. stay home!
