Do parents get what they pay for? Sunday’s Comic

OPINION

PHOENIX — Arizona Rep. Kelly Townsend, R-Mesa, has introduced legislation that would restore professional standards that used to govern classroom teachers.

Of course, leaders of  the teachers union oppose it – the last thing they want is for teachers to teach – they want teachers to preach.

There are allegations that the bill is retaliation for last year’s strike.

Instead the bill seems like the natural outcome of an awakening by parents and the public that too many kids are forced to consume progressive dogma all day long in under-funded classrooms managed by political hacks.

The good news is that the strike also woke up some professional teachers, who have focused on their students and classrooms, and ignored their irresponsible colleagues. They no longer support the Arizona Education Association and its president, Joe Thomas.
