MOVIE IS BASED ON PHOENIX-BASED MINISTRY ALONG SIDe, WHICH MENTORS PRISON INMATES

Banner Ironwood Nurse Cody Bruce brought her five children to meet actor Dean Cain, who was on location at the hospital to shoot scenes for the John Light movie.

PHOENIX — A film production crew was on location at Banner Ironwood Medical Center March 16 and 18 for several hospital-based scenes being filmed for the movie “John Light.”

Dean Cain is a cast member of the faith-based film, written by Gilbert resident Dave Welty.

Cain is best known as for his work as Superman/Clark Kent in the TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.”

Directed by Jason Campbell, “John Light” tells the story of one man’s power of forgiveness as well as his challenges in overcoming the stigma of being an ex-convict, according to the film’s website.

Campbell has created more than 13 faith-based films. He started his company with actor Erik Estrada five years ago.

“This is a wonderful story written by a local man about a real ministry in this area that has made a world of difference to thousands of inmates and their families,” said Campbell, referring to Phoenix-based Along Side Ministries, a volunteer mentorship program for prison inmates.
