This week, the Sierra Vista Police Department arrested five people in connection to a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 2000 block of Wilcox Drive in the early morning of Monday, June 3.

The investigation also led to the arrest of 25-year-old Demondra Heard, who was being sought for his involvement in a prior shooting that occurred on May 26.

According to Sierra Vista Police, officers spoke to an alleged victim after being dispatched to the shooting scene on June 3. The victim described being chased by two individuals who were on foot while the victim attempted to flee in his vehicle. The alleged victim stated the individuals chasing him fired multiple rounds at him and his vehicle.

Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) officers executed a search warrant on the morning of Monday, June 3, in the 400 block of South 3rd Street, and found Heard, who was being sought for involvement in a shooting on May 26. In the search, SVPD officers secured multiple items of evidence related to the June 3 shooting and also found a firearm linked to Heard in the May 26 shooting.

Heard was arrested on June 3 for one count of prohibited possessor and one count of threatening and intimidating, both stemming from the May 26 shooting. Heard is being held in Cochise County Jail on a $50,000 bond for the prohibited possessor charge and a $5,000 bond for the threatening and intimidating charge.

SVPD detectives learned that the initial alleged victim of the June 3 shooting, 18-year-old Sierra Vista resident Andre Mojica-Mitchell, had provided false information to the officers who first responded to the scene. Evidence showed that Mojica-Mitchell was in a vehicle with 19-year-old Sierra Vista resident Javone Williams. While Mojica-Mitchell and Williams were being pursued by two individuals, Williams fired multiple rounds at the individuals on foot.

SVPD officers arrested Williams on Thursday, June 6, at a residence in the 2000 block of Player Avenue in Sierra Vista. Williams was booked into Cochise County Jail for two counts of attempted first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and one count of unlawful discharge of a firearm. Williams is currently being held without bond.

SVPD officers also arrested Mojica-Mitchell the same day, June 6, for one count of hindering and one count of false report. Mojica-Mitchell is being held on a $100,000 bond.

On Monday, June 3, 33-year-old Sierra Vista resident Janiesha Carmouche was arrested in the 400 block of S. 3rd Street in Sierra Vista. Carmouche was booked into the Cochise County Jail for one count of hindering and one count of false reporting. Carmouche is currently on probation with the Cochise County Adult Probation Department and is being held without bond on a probation violation.

On Tuesday, June 4, 40-year-old Sierra Vista resident Jennifer Hailey was arrested in the 2000 block of Mulcahy Place in Sierra Vista. Hailey was charged and released the same day for false reporting.

On Thursday, June 6, 25-year-old Davonte Mojica was arrested in the 2000 block of Wilcox Drive in Sierra Vista. Mojica was booked into the Cochise County Jail for a failure to appear warrant.

SVPD detectives are still looking for a juvenile thought to be involved in the June 3 shooting. Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact SVPD Detective Justin Dannels at (520) 452-7500.
