Border Patrol Agents Seizes Nearly $230K In Methamphetamine At I-8 Immigration Checkpoint

YUMA – A 42-year-old man was arrested for controlled substance violations by Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents working at an immigration checkpoint on Friday afternoon.

Wellton Station agents working the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint referred the man, lawfully admitted permanent resident from Mexico, driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee to a secondary inspection. A search revealed multiple packages of meth concealed in all four doors of the vehicle and in a rear quarter panel.

The narcotics weighed 99.9 pounds with an estimated street value of $229,770.
