Witness Helps Chandler Police Nab Burglar, 2nd Burglar On The Loose

David Lawrence | Chuck Braster

One burglar, David Brown, has been arrested and Chandler Police are looking for his accomplice, Chuck Braster, thanks to a witness to their crime who took action.

According to Chandler Police, on August 26, 2019 around 2:00 p.m., Brown and Braster committed a burglary at a residence in the 2600 block of North Yucca Street. A witness saw one of the men run out of the residence carrying a black duffel bag and jump into the passenger seat of a silver Toyota Scion.

The witness followed the vehicle and took a photograph of the license plate. The plate returned to a 2010 Toyota Scion registered to the 40-year-old Brown of Mesa. Brown’s physical features and driver’s license photo match the description of the suspect who ran out of the home during the burglary, according to Detective Seth Tyler.

Later in the evening, Chandler Police detectives found the suspect vehicle at an apartment complex in Mesa. As they walked up to the vehicle they were immediately confronted by Brown, who was watching from the back patio of his apartment. Once detectives learned his identity, Brown was placed under arrest for the burglary.

On August 27, 2019, Brown was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count of 1st Degree Criminal Trespass and one count of 2nd Degree Burglary. Brown has since been released from custody.

Investigators are looking for the 39 year-old Braster of Chandler. If you have any information related to the whereabouts of Braster, contact Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS (948-6377). Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of Chuck Braster.
