Davis-Monthan A-10 Unintentionally Releases Rocket North Of Tucson

An A-10C Thunderbolt II unintentionally released a single M-156 rocket on Thursday at approximately 10:40 a.m. during a routine training mission.

The rocket released by the A-10, assigned to the 354th Fighter Squadron from the 355th Wing, “impacted in a desert wash in an uninhabited area under the Jackal Military Operations Area, which is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Tucson,” according to the Air Force.

The Jackal Military Operations training area is not designated for munitions release.

No injuries, damages or fires have been reported
