Sierra Vista Woman In Critical Condition, Her Shooter Is Dead

A Sierra Vista woman, 46-year-old Silvia Sabo, remains in critical condition at a Tucson medical facility after being shot by a Phoenix man, James Romo, who then apparently took his own life. the incident happened as she was dropping him off at the Vista Transit Center on Wednesday afternoon.

Sierra Vista Police Department officers responded to the Vista Transit Center located at 2050 E. Wilcox Drive at about 3:30 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun. The caller reported that his friend, Ms. Sabo, was with the 48-year-old Romo when pointed a gun at her while she was dropping him off.

When officers arrived on scene, they found Sabo and Romo inside a black GTI Volkswagen, each suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Romo was pronounced dead at the scene and it appears he shot himself immediately after shooting Sabo. Sabo was transported to Canyon Vista Medical Center and then flown to a Tucson medical facility where she remains in critical condition.
