TUCSON – A Phoenix woman has been arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents for smuggling two illegal aliens in her vehicle last week.
At the State Route 85 Immigration Checkpoint, a Border Patrol canine alerted to a Nissan Altima being driven by the 33-year-old woman. The woman and her juvenile passenger are both U.S. citizens. During a search of the vehicle, agents discovered a 25-year-old Mexican man and a 22-year-old Guatemalan woman hidden in the vehicle’s trunk.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the foreign nationals will be processed for immigration violations.
