Chair Ward looks on as Chair Rotellini makes claim that President Trump sides with ISIS.

PHOENIX – Arizona Democrat Party Chairman Felecia Rotellini is being called out by Arizona Republican Party Chair Dr. Kelli Ward for falsely claiming that President Donald Trump “has aligned himself with ISIS.” The bizarre comment was made as the Trump administration prepared to kill ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Speaking at at the Citizens Clean Elections Commission’s “We the Voters” conference on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Phoenix Convention Center, Rotellini said that “a reason that people are going to vote” is because President Donald Trump has “aligned himself with ISIS and Saudi Arabia.” Rotellini then stated that the “most important thing” those in the crowd could do is “vote for a president who is not going to align himself with the most dangerous foreign nations that are the reason why we had 9/11.”

The panel discussion featured Ward, Rotellini, Arizona Libertarian Party Chairman Howard Blitz, and Arizona Green Party First Vice Chair Amee Beck.

According to the AZGOP, Rotellini made the “slanderous accusation at approximately 1:45 p.m. MST – within an hour of President Trump and top U.S. military officials gathering in the Situation Room to watch as U.S. special forces carried out a nighttime raid in northwest Syria that ended in the death of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.”

Ward fired back at Rotellini that her claim was “not true” and called on Democrat leaders to condemn Rotellini’s “fearmongering.”

“It is extremely disconcerting to hear the top Democrat in Arizona slander and malign an innocent person for being aligned with the world’s most evil terrorists, let alone the President of the United States,” said Ward. “While fearmongering from the Left is expected up to a point, we have to draw the line somewhere if they’re going to refuse to police themselves. Baseless statements like those made by the chair of the Arizona Democrat party are wildly irresponsible and not rooted in reality.”

Joanna Rodriguez, Press Secretary for the National Republican Senatorial Committee questioned whether senatorial candidate Mark Kelly would disavow Rotellini’s claim.
“As usual, Mark Kelly has yet to weigh in – probably too busy getting ready for his corporate-paid speech tomorrow,” stated Rodriguez in a press release. “When controversy appears, Mark Kelly likes to disappear and go silent, but this time, Kelly’s silence makes him complicit in baseless, malicious rhetoric from his state party. Arizona voters won’t stand for it.”

Rodriguez is referring to a speech Kelly is scheduled to deliver on Wednesday in Phoenix sponsored by the Salt River Project, a powerful utility megacorp. Other event megacorp sponsors include: APS, Walmart, Bank of America, Costco Wholesale, Charles Schwab, Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Northern Trust, and Southwest Gas Corporation.
