Border Patrol Arrests Previously Deported Convicted Sex Offender

TUCSON – A previously deported sex offender, Santiago Mariano-Aguirre, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents near Nogales.

On Monday, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Tucson Sector agents patrolling near the border on Monday morning, apprehended the 35-year-old Mariano-Aguirre. A records checks revealed the Mexican national illegally present in the country, was convicted of sex with a minor on September 30, 2005, by Humboldt County, California. In that case he was sentenced to 180 days in jail.

Mariano-Aguirre faces prosecution for immigration violations.
