DACA Recipient Arrested For Failed Human Smuggling Attempt

TUCSON – A 29-year-old DACA recipient living in Colorado, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents caught her in an trying to smuggle an male illegal alien near Lukeville Tuesday night.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipient was referred for secondary inspection by Tucson Sector agents working the primary inspection lane at the State Route 85 immigration checkpoint. During the inspection, agents determined the woman was smuggling the passenger, a 21-year-old Mexican national illegally present in the United States.

Agents seized the vehicle.

The DACA recipient will be held in custody under human smuggling charges while the illegal alien man will be processed for immigration violations, according to CBP.
