2 arrested for death of Tucson teen, shooting that injured man

Tucson Police have made two arrests in connection with the death of 17-year-old David Ruggiero on November 22, 2019. Jonathan O. Gallardo, age 17, and 22-year-old Jose Manuel Aguirre have been charged with 1st Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping and Weapons Offenses.

Both Gallardo, and Aguirre were also identified as suspects in a separate shooting that occurred hours after Ruggiero’s death. The second shooting took place in the parking lot of 2470 N. Campbell Avenue. According to Tucson Police, in that shooting, an adult male was struck by gunfire after an altercation occurred. The victim was subsequently transported to Banner University Medical Center with serious injuries. The male’s injuries have since been listed as non-life threatening.

On the evening of December 6, 2019, Aguirre was located and arrested by investigators. He is currently being held at Pima County Jail. Detectives were then able to locate Gallardo on the morning of December 16, 2019. He is also being held at Pima County Jail.
