Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego had a bit of a tantrum over a perceived insult when reporter Howard Fischer used the term “counterpart” to refer to her and Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell. Wow. That was a lot of handwringing over a dumb caption.

As a journalist, I love being insulted by @raystern and @phoenixnewtimes for a caption I wrote without even the slightest attempt to contact me — even tho the online item insists I haven’t returned an email. Funny how everyone else can find me. But that mighta undermined story.

Fischer then got into a back-and-forth with Stern proving that both men are simply petty and pathetic…
And as a journalist, I love when journalist @azcapmedia disses me on Twitter with the false claim that I didn’t attempt to contact him and doesn’t apologize in kind even when it turns out the problem is he’s too old to remember how to use his Hotmail account. #okboomer https://t.co/sNR6YPw23T
