Flagstaff, AZ – The remains found on February 24 near Sunset Crater National Monument have been identified as a New Mexico woman, Sasha Krause. Sasha, age 27 went missing out of Farmington, New Mexico on January 18, 2020.
According to the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, on February 21, deputies responded to a phone call from the Wupatki Ranger station, reporting that an individual camping off Forest Service Rd. 545 had found what was believed to be a dead body near the individual’s camp.
Fingerprints taken at the scene were matched with the Texas Motor Vehicle Department’s Driver license records, to confirm Sasha’s identity.
The investigation is still ongoing by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office along with San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.
