Pima County Health Officials Confirm Case Of Coronavirus

Pima County Health Director Dr. Francisco Garcia and other officials from Pima County, the City of Tucson and other agencies and organizations held a press conference March 9, 2020 to update the community on the preparations and response so far to the COVID-19 outbreak.

PIMA COUNTY – Pima County health officials have confirmed that there has been a single presumptive positive case of COVID-19 in a returning traveler residing in unincorporated Pima County.

Officials say that the current risk for exposure to COVID-19 in Pima County remains low.

According to Pima County, “the patient is a resident of unincorporated Pima County. This individual is not severely ill, is currently recovering at home in isolation, and has been fully cooperative with public health monitoring.”

Health officials say they are currently investigating any close contacts that may have been exposed while the person was infectious. Any individuals who have been identified as having been exposed will be contacted directly. These individuals will be monitored for fever and respiratory symptoms in collaboration with PCHD and medical providers.
