Chandler Police Looking For Thief Of “Remains Of Deceased Loved Ones”

CHANDLER – Chandler Police are seeking the public’s assistance in the recovery of human remains that were stolen last month.

According to Chandler Police, a car trailer was stolen from the Quality Inn parking lot located at 255 North Kyrene Road in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 20, 2020.

Urns with the remains of the victim’s parents were among the items in the trailer when it was stolen. The victim had traveled from Michigan and was enroute to the planned final resting place of the victim’s parents in Mexico.

Police say the trailer was recovered at the Lone Butte Casino on the Gila River Indian Reservation. However, the only items left inside the trailer were the death certificates belonging to the deceased parents.

Chandler Police ask anyone with any information regarding the location of the stolen urns to contact Silent Witness at (480) WITNESS (948-6377). Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of the suspect(s).
