Tucson Man Arrested For Killing Friend After Falling-Out

TUCSON – Tucson Police have arrested Dwarka Baron for the murder of 35-year-old Charles Viney.

According to Tucson Police, on March 23, 2020, just after 11:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3500 block of East Water Street for a report of a shooting. Mr. Viney was found outside of the residence with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers attempted to render aid; however, he was pronounced deceased on scene shortly after their arrival. The 44-year-old Baron was still on scene and was immediately detained.

Detectives were able to determine that Viney was a temporary resident at the home. Baron does not live at the home, but the two have lived together in the past. Recently, the two friends had a falling-out and on the night of the shooting, Baron came to Viney’s home and found him sitting outside at a table. Baron was armed with a handgun and shot Viney multiple times. After the shooting, Baron waited at the scene and surrendered to officers when they arrived.

Baron was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of First Degree Murder.
