California Man Arrested For Intentionally Coughing On Yuma Gas Pump

YUMA – A California man has been arrested for intentionally coughing on a Yuma gas pump.

On Saturday, April 4, 2020 at approximately 6:08 p.m., the Yuma Police Department started receiving multiple reports of a social media video showing a male subject coughing on a gas pump handle while talking about spreading of COVID-19.

An investigation was conducted and the man was identified as a 23 year old male from Winterhaven, California. The male subject was brought into the Yuma Police Department and interviewed. The 23 year old said he got the idea from other social media videos he had seen on the internet. He did not show any signs or symptoms for COVID-19.

According to Yuma Police, charges of Unlawful Use of Infectious Biological Substance against the as yet identified man will be sent to the County Attorney for review.
