Davis, Nicholls, Rassas Appointed To Maricopa County Superior Court

PHOENIX – On Friday, Marvin Davis, Suzanne Nicholls and Michael Rassas were appointed to the Maricopa County Superior Court by Governor Doug Ducey. The three appointments were made to fill vacancies created by the retirement of Judge Karen O’Connor and the resignations of Judge Erin O’Brien Otis and Judge Jose S. Padilla.

Judge Marvin Davis

Davis has been a Commissioner with the Maricopa County Superior Court since March 2017, serving in the Criminal Division. In 2019, he was appointed by the Criminal Presiding Judge to serve as a division representative for the Citizen’s Academy, which provides community leaders with a glimpse of the numerous services provided by the Court.

Davis graduated magna cum laude from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Minor in African-American Studies. He then received his law degree from the Arizona State University College of Law.

Nicholls has been with the Maricopa County Office of the Public Advocate since August 2015, where she represents parents and families in dependency actions involving the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS). In July 2017, she received the Arizona Public Defender Association’s Outstanding Performance Award.

Suzanne graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. She then graduated cum laude from the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2007.

Rassas has been with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office since March 2017, where he provides legal advice and representation to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and Arizona Department of Public Safety. His practice currently consists of administrative, appellate, and civil matters.

Rassas graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in History. He then received his law degree from the Arizona State University College of Law.
