Border Patrols Agents In Yuma Area Intercept Narcotics Dropped From Drones

YUMA – Between April 29th and May 3rd, Border Patrol agents working in the Yuma Sector intercepted narcotics in two of three separate incidents involving drones, otherwise known as Single Unmanned Aircraft Systems.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, last Wednesday, agents recovered a small bundle from a Single Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS), which contained approximately 463 grams of Methamphetamine. The drugs had an estimated street value of nearly $3,000.

The on Saturday night, drug dealers in Mexico launched a drone that entered U.S. airspace and dropped multiple packages.  Agents were able to retrieve the ten packages dropped by the drone.  The contents of the packages weighed approximately 11 kilograms of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

The approximate street value of the cocaine seized is $306,000.

On Sunday evening, Yuma Sector agents detected another drone.  Yuma Sector Border Patrol Agents recovered two of the three drones.
