COVID-19 Cases At 9,305 With 395 Deaths Reported

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 9,305 cases of COVID-19 and 395 deaths in the state, as of May 5. The Department said 98,526 tests for COVID-19 have been completed as of in public and private labs in Arizona, and 7.9 percent of tests have come back positive for the virus.

The data indicates that Arizona reached its peak on April 20.

According to ABC15, “the Arizona Department of Health Services disbanded its team of modelers, which was predicting the spread of the coronavirus and advising state leaders on the impacts of reopening the state.”

Several news organizations in Arizona have joined together in a lawsuit against the state health department in an effort to secure important information related to long-term care facilities with COVID-19 outbreaks. The outlets are asking for the names and locations of facilities with coronavirus cases and deaths.
