PHOENIX – Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has selected Arizona for its new U.S. advanced semiconductor factory. The facility will have a 20,000 semiconductor wafer per month capacity, and create over 1,600 high-tech professional jobs directly.

Several sites in the City of Phoenix are still being evaluated for the location of the factory.

According to the Company, construction is planned to start in 2021 with production targeted to begin in 2024.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s (TSMC) total spending on this project, including capital expenditure, is expected to be approximately $12 billion from 2021 to 2029.

The Company believes the U.S. facility gives it “more opportunities to attract global talents.”
