Sierra Vista Drive-By Shooting Suspect Arrested

SIERRA VISTA – A Sierra Vista man, Joseph Ahrens, has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred at the intersection of 7th Street and Busby Drive on Friday, May 15, at about 9 p.m.

According to the Sierra Vista Police Department, bullets fired in the shooting penetrated two trailers located in the Sierra Grande Mobile Home Park. One bullet nearly struck a small child playing in a bedroom.

Ahrens, age 18, was booked into the Cochise County Jail for 10 counts of drive-by shooting, five counts of discharging a firearm at a structure, 10 counts of discharging a firearm into the city limits, one count of misconduct involving a weapon, one count of possessing marijuana for sale, one count of criminal damage, one count of tampering with evidence, three counts of attempted homicide, nine counts of endangerment and two counts of disorderly conduct.

Ahrens is being held without bond.

The Sierra Vista Police Department (SVPD) shared images from video camera footage showing two vehicles involved in the drive-by shooting on Tuesday and requested assistance in identifying the individuals involved.

“We appreciate the public’s assistance in getting the word out and providing information that led to this arrest,” said SVPD Detective Joshua Nicola, in a press release.
