Sawtooth Fire Burning Hundreds Of Acres East Of Gold Canyon

The Tonto National Forest reported at 2:35 p.m. on May 31 that the Sawtooth Fire eight miles east of Gold Canyon had burned about 3,500 acres. The fire is lightning caused

No structures were threatened.

The fire is about 5% contained.

“While this fire is in the same area as last year’s Woodbury Fire, it is too early to determine its future size and intensity,” said Mesa District Ranger Matthew Lane.
