Bringham Fire Forces Closure Of US 191 In Eastern Arizona

PHOENIX – The Bringham Fire has forced the closure of US 191 to through traffic in the mountains of eastern Arizona. The closure is in the area north of Morenci and south of Hannagan Meadow.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, with a prolonged closure expected between mileposts 186 and 225, through traffic can detour on US 180 and State Route 78 through western New Mexico. US 191 is open to local traffic only between the closure points.

The Bringham Fire was ignited by lightning on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Clifton Ranger District on June 6, 2020.
