On Tuesday, Aquila Fire started around 2:30 p.m. near 27th Avenue and the Carefree Highway. At least three structures have been destroyed.
The fire is being fueled by windy conditions in the area and has already consumed approximately 893 acres.
Firefighters say more than 200 homes were evacuated, including the Joy Ranch subdivision.
A “SET” notification has been issued for the areas of 19th Ave. and Joy Ranch due to the #AguilaFire burning along Carefree Hwy. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with fire personnel on evacuations however, not mandatory at this time. pic.twitter.com/hRTxNNCO8l
