Phoenix Car Crash Under Investigation, 3 Children Sent To Hospital

Phoenix Police are investigating an accident involving a Police vehicle that seriously injured three small children. A 3-year-old is in extremely critical condition, a 4-year-old has life-threatening injuries and a 6-year-old has serious injuries.

The officer was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

None of the children were in car seats at the time of the crash

The accident occurred at 8 a.m. on Monday just west of 19th Ave & Buckeye.

According to Phoenix Police, a family of five was driving west in the curbside lane of Buckeye when the driver tried to make a U-turn across the lanes of traffic.

An unmarked Phoenix Police SUV was in the next lane over and hit the sedan as the driver made the turn.

The driver suffered serious injures. A woman in the passenger front seat was not seriously hurt.
