The Salt Fire is currently 0% contained. The fire is located 2 miles SE of the Hwy 188/288 junction. The wildfire burning in the Tonto National Forest has caused a large, eastern Arizona transmission line to go out of service. This line brings energy to many Valley-based SRP customers.

The Salt Fire started on the evening of August 17, 2020, and was caused by lightning.

To avoid potential rotating outages, SRP is asking its customers to reduce their energy use today from 3 to 9 p.m. Rotating outages happen when energy capacity does not meet customer energy demand.
