On August 24, 2020 at approximately 7:00 p.m., a 24-year-old male was driving a vehicle northbound on Gopher Road headed towards Narramore Road, when 61-year-old Nina Olsen walked out of her driveway into the path of the vehicle.
Ms. Olsen was transported to Abrazo West Campus Medical Center with suspected life-threatening injuries, she was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), the driver was examined by a Drug Recognition Expert who found the driver was not impaired by any alcohol and/or drugs. There was no evidence the driver was on his cellphone at the time of the collision.
The preliminary collision reconstruction determined that speed is not a factor at this time.
MCSO Vehicular Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
