On Monday night, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent was stabbed by a suspected undocumented immigrants near Nogales.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, on September 21, 2020, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a Border Patrol agent patrolling on foot east of Nogales, Arizona, arrested a group of illegal aliens and subsequently came under assault by one of them who was armed with a knife.
The Border Patrol Agent was stabbed multiple times, but was able to fire his sidearm and fatally shot the assailant.
The agent was airlifted from the scene by CBP Air Operations to the Nogales Airport to meet an air ambulance. From there, he was flown to a hospital in Tucson, Arizona and treated for his wounds. After treatment, the Agent was released from the hospital.
The FBI, CBP Office of Professional Responsibility, DHS Office of Inspector General, and Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, with the FBI serving as lead federal agency for the investigation of this incident.
