Washington Man Killed In Fall In Sedona Area Canyon

A Washington man, Jordan Brashears, was killed on October 8, after a fall in Boynton Canyon which is located west of Sedona.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, two men had been hiking with the 29-year-old Brashears intending to visit ancient ruins in the canyon. They were about a half a mile from the Enchantment Resort when Jordan went ahead of them. At the time Jordan was hiking barefoot and his two companions lost sight of him around the corner. When the area came interview Jordan was gone.

The two men called out and search for at least an hour without success and then contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies met with the men and a team of searchers searched around the ruins as far as they could safely in the dark and saw no sign of Jordan.

The following morning deputies were organized in a more extensive search involving ground searchers, a drone, and a helicopter.

Searchers found a water jug apparently belonging to Jordan. They then found a pair of shoes, a cell phone, and then Jordan’s body around 9:00 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office says there is no indication that Jordan fell from the trail on purpose or that foul play was involved.
