MESA — On Friday night, the occupants of a small SUV opened fire on families attending a food truck event in a parking lot near Dobson and Guadalupe roads.
According to the Mesa Police Department, four children, ages 1 -16, and 3 adults were injured in the drive-by shooting.
Police say that at approximately 9:30 p.m., a white or silver Kia Soul-type or small box-type SUV drove up on Guadalupe Road and opened fire toward the families that were eating.
Police say a worker returned fire at the vehicle before it fled the scene.
